Matt, I love your focus here. I try to do the same thing passing along helpful tips to people in the entrepreneurial space on my blog as well. One thing I have found is having a good group of mentors and friends that will help give great advice and tips is key for success. I will continue to follow your work. Thanks for all the posts and information you are sending out to everyone. I really enjoy it and follow you on twitter as well.

I feel ya on browsing the the internet randomly through out the day, so much great content out their we almost don't want to miss it.

I'm learning this is something we need to eliminate during "work time" and schedule time to do when its "fun time" which is browsing the web and interacting. If you have a moment check out a video post I did on VentureMixx titled "How to Increase Productivity While Working Online" this trick has been helping me out.

I really enjoyed the video! I can relate to your problem because I am also a terrible scheduler. From my experience, it seems like the big picture/creative type people, have the most difficult time staying focused on a schedule. My goal moving forward is to get up early and knock out 3 important things right away. After I get those done, I leave some free time for myself for brainstorming, creativity, and problem solving. This plan has worked good for me, because it provides a balance between completing daily details and freedom to focus on big picture things. I've found that too much emphasis in either direction isn't always productive. It's great to hear different techniques that other people use. Good stuff!

Torjborn, thanks for your response-- I like ho wyou say "if I don't define my day I get lost". This is definitely the case for me.

Hey Tony, thanks for the response. So are you like me and have to look at this sheet of paper every 2 minutes to remind yourself what you should be doing at the current time?

Maybe I have a bit of ADD but the computer is like a big entrepreneurial playground to me, I just want to go from thing to thing, but eventually run out of steam...

Stay focused buddy. We have to learn how to schedule our time. The one thing that helps me is before I go to bed I list three things I want to do the next day. The next day I'm motivatied to get my tasks done before I start any other type of task.

The days I don't do that I notice I fall off track. Its all about trail and error, see what techniques fit you best my friend. Your not alone but at least we notice what's holding us back and we work to overcome them.

Matt, I totally know where you're coming from! It's tough, and only a month into my biz at home I'm already seeing that I'm a 'coaster'. I have important action items that loosely define my day. I start with a run, a walk, or some time for myself in the morning....but...if I don't define my day I get lost.

I think a regiment is NOT CRITICAL, because you'll just find yourself feeling let down far too often. The best I do right now is my list of to-do, MUST-do, then the other items that can flow freely. Perhaps I should try a schedule, but I don't know yet. The consulting lifestyle calls for a lot of rule-bending!

Are you considering other methods? And to what extent are you just trying to define a schedule due to an emotional reaction to letting yourself down? I think that's something to consider, because what you feel on the inside is not the same as what people see from you. If you run a tight ship, and others are impressed with your product/service, then maybe you're doing just fine.

Falling asleep at my desk at 7am on an all-nighter in Singapore and was just jolted-awake to the sound of a song I pre-loaded after watching your video...motivating man, I love your goal to get more into blogging!

I agree, I really think it can be a great networking tool, as well as a vehicle for helping others. I've learned a lot from your blog in my early days with Twitter, etc. and all the way until today.
